This workshop will cover: 1)How to start a construction program in your district. 2)Ways to get donated tools for the program. 3)How to handle the liability issues involved with students working on a construction site. 4)Safety tests and procedures before and during off-site work. 5)How to get district and community support for your program. 6)New technologies in the construction field (Insulated concrete forms, SIP panel construction, house wrap, and attic wrap). 7)Proper window installation - the new āIā cut method with the new flex wrap on the sills. 8)Wisconsin ENERGY STAR Homes standards and certification Times: Friday 5:00 -9:00 p.m. - P.J. Jacobs Jr. High (9 p.m. - Open discussion in the hotel lobby) Saturday 8:00 a.m.-5 p.m. - Meet at job site Sunday 8:00-Noon - Meet at job site Tentative agenda Friday: Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP) information; Demonstrations on Tyvek window, wall, and attic applications; ICF and SIP construction methods; and safety demonstrations. Saturday: Habitat for Humanity home construction site (Bring your tool belt if you have one.) Sunday: Wisconsin ENERGY STAR Homes demonstrations including a blower door test. Cost:$100 (this includes a $25 1 year membership or extension of your membership) Graduate Credit: One graduate credit for participating in this workshop may be available through UW-Stevens Point for $342.60.If you're interested, please contact Sara Windjue at the Wisconsin K-12 Energy Education Program (KEEP) at 715-346-4163. Scholarships may be available. Lodging: Several rooms are reserved at the Sleep Inn in Plover until March 18th, which is 5 miles from the school. The rooms are reserved under the name WTEA and the rates are $65 for single, $80 for a double, and $89 for suites.
