McFarland High School - Dan Klecker, Travis Ray, and Ned Lease with Roger W. Davis, President/CEO of Paxton/Patterson

I just returned from the 72nd ITEEA (formerly ITEA) conference, which was held in Charlotte, NC, with a bag full of information on Green Technology and STEM education. Overall, it was a pretty good conference, once you got past the verbal stumbles, the names change created with almost every presentation's introduction.

Wisconsin again had Award of Excellence winners. This year, McFarland High School sent their Tech Ed staff to receive the High School Program of Excellence Award. Present in Charlotte, to receive the award and representing McFarland High School was Dan Klecker, Travis Ray, and Ned Lease. Dan, Travis, and Ned also attended the WTEA social, which was held on Thursday night at one of the many Irish pubs in the uptown area - with the smell of St.Patrick's day still in the air. A quality group of Tech Ed students, from UW-STOUT, also made the trek to North Carolina and attended the WTEA social and long with other fellow educators from Wisconsin, UW-STOUT, and Wisconsin trained educators teaching in Minnesota and Wyoming .

Other winners, not able to attend this year's ITEEA conference, Middle School Program Excellence Award winner, Manawa Middle School - Kelly Koller, and Teacher Award of Excellence winner - Dan Jones.

I must say, Charlotte, as the host city was beautiful. Boosting itself as the Nation's second-largest financial center, the city was clean, easy to navigate, and full of colorful cosmopolitan charm. I found it easy to walk all over the "uptown" area, visiting shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. Charlotte is definitely a city I would like to visit again.

Next year, ITEEA 73rd Annual Conference will be March 24-26, 2011 and it will be close by. Next year's conference will be in Minneapolis, MN, at the Minneapolis Convention Center. There is a call out for presenters for next year's conference, you can find more information at http://www.iteea.org.
