Pro|ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 Software is now available to teachers—the only cost is a training workshop fee.

For several years PTC has made Pro/DESKTOP engineering, design and 3-D modeling software available to teachers. PTC’s only expectation was that any teacher wishing to have the software complete a short workshop (one-day) on its use and application in the classroom. Doing so entitled the teacher to a 300-seat license to use Pro/D in the classroom as well as let students load the software on home computers. The license is not a site license; it is a teacher license. Any teacher wishing to use the software must complete the workshop.

PTC recently instituted a similar program for Pro|ENGINEER, it's powerful, high-end professional design software. Once again, the company is making it possible for teachers to become licensed users and to secure a 300-seat Pro|E license at minimal cost to them or their school. The completion of a Pro|E workshop is the only requirement. PTC has also broadened the educational arm of the company; in addition to the software, free curriculum materials, tutorials, templates, and an online teacher forum are now available and more complete than ever. Several Pro|Engineer textbooks are now commercially available as well.

In order to qualify for a Pro|E workshop, a teacher is required to satisfy a prerequisite—complete the one-day Pro/DESKTOP workshop and become a licensed user. (If you are an experienced user of other 3-d solid modeling software, contact the instructor to see if you qualify for a waiver of the Pro/D prerequisite.)

Once you have completed the Pro/DESKTOP course, you will be licensed and certified as a Pro/D teacher and also qualified to move on to Pro|E should you decide to do that. The scheduling of these Pro|E workshops has already begun. Be sure you are in a position to take advantage of the opportunity.

If you have already completed the Pro/D workshop and are licensed, you may be interested in enrolling in one of the Pro|E workshops.
