The Gateway Technical College Board of Directors today selected Bryan Albrecht to assume the position of Chief Operations and Academic Officer. The position is effective immediately.

Albrecht was recommended by a search committee comprised of five board members. They engaged an executive search firm who conducted an extensive nationwide search.

"The search committee felt that it was important to have a leader in place who would continue the entrepreneurial vision of the college. We were impressed with the caliber of candidates that participated in the interview process. They all possessed excellent credentials," said Dennis Schulz, Gateway Technical College Board hairman. "However, Albrecht definitely was the best applicant and his andidacy received the unanimous endorsement of the search committee."

Albrecht is already familiar with the operations of Gateway Technical College in his current role as a Vice President. Prior to coming to Gateway Technical College, Albrecht served as the Wisconsin State Director for Career and Technical Education for K-12 education with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. In that role he was a catalyst for new education and workforce training initiatives. He served on several Governors' Committees to improve workforce development and strengthen the relationships between secondary and post-secondary education. Albrecht received his formal education from the University of Wisconsin-Stout earning both a bachelor's and Master Degree in Technology Education and is currently working toward his Ed.S and Ph.D.

This position is funded for one year. Albrecht will be evaluated regularly by the Gateway Technical College board as the successor to Gateway President Dr. Sam Borden, who has previously announced his retirement for June, 2006.
